Colemans Contracting Were awarded the Batchelor Airstrip Project June 2020.

The upgrade had major economic benefits for the local and surrounding communities, with Indigenous employment and local Aircraft business benefiting substantially. Colemans worked with the Department to ensure the project met Environmental, Indigenous & Quality targets. The local Waste transfer station benefited from the clean waste as well as Construction waste that was removed from the site to enable the Apron and Taxi way to be completed. All Employee’s carried out training prior to starting on the project to ensure all WH&S measures were addressed, the application of lime was a new procedure and Covid was at its height. Target for indigenous employment was reached at 20% of total hours completed, 100% of the project was carried out by Colemans employee’s of which were all locals to the area.

Colemans were able to keep DIPL as the major stakeholder in this project, up to date for all stages of the Project, with all works being completed by 30th of September 2020.
